Hey everyone,

It's possible some of you met me at the Lifetime climbing wall during Christmas break... I stopped by to check it out. I'm definitely moving back to (downtown) Memphis on July 20, so I wanted to get some info on the area!

1. How far away are the nearest decent areas? Are there good books with decent topo or is it a local knowledge sort of thing?

2. What type of climbing is in the area? Is there much sport, mostly bouldering and trad...?

I'll definitely be checking out the UT wall (though I can't say I like to boulder all that much) and getting a membership to Lifetime for weekdays, but I'd like to get outdoors at least some weekends. I currently have a set of 12 draws (extendable) and a set of 10 nuts as well as a few pieces of webbing and assorted lockers. I also have three ropes, though I may only bring my new rope back.

Anyhow, just wondering if I needed to bite the bullet and get some cams/small hexes and/or a bouldering pad. Hoping to meet lots of yall very soon!

ciao, Angela

ps If for some reason anyone is in the greater new england area and wants to climb in the next month of so, let me know. You're welcome to join my group up here!

2. Alot of both. Above, Kings is nearly all sport. Good mix at other areas.

Post up when you are ready to go out!

Thanks for the book suggestions Scott!

I'm back in town now and definitely ready to get outside. Is anyone interested in going out this coming weekend? I have a tiny car, so a carpool would be appreciated but can take mine if I need to.

A caveat: I can't boulder right now because my ankle won't take a landing (I injured it pretty bad). Anything else is fine though.
