The Tech Section:: Frostbite/Frostnip
After running last night and abusing my bare cheeks in the cold wind, I decided to look for a bit of scientific information to help me determine when coverage is needed to prevent frostnip/frostbite. Here is a link to the Environment Canada web site where they did a very scientific study on when your skin will freeze, something very appropriate for mountaineers to know. Keep in mind that frostbite at altitude is more likely because of reduced oxygen.

Jim

http://www.msc-smc.ec.gc.ca/education/windchill/research2003_e.html

The Tech Section:: Cams For Sale
Set of 5 Rock Empire Robot Cams
Rock & Ice says Robot cams are "an excellent value" and we couldn't agree more. This set gets you one each of sizes #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5. All have four cams and hold 15kN. The set covers a range of 20mm (0.79 in) to 90mm (3.6 in). This is an excellent set for starting or expanding your rack of active pro. CE Certified

Rock Empire Robot 4 Cam Specs
Cam Number Range	Min. Breaking Str. (kN)	Weight (grams)
1	              20mm - 29mm	15kN	                 80g
2	              27mm - 41mm	15kN	                 95g
3	              35mm - 53mm	15kN	                 125g
4	              48mm - 67mm	15kN	                 160g
5	              61mm - 91mm	15kN	                 205g

I have a set barely used. What signs they show of wear have been from riding in a pack. No more than a handful of placements, none ever weighted that I can remember. They have been well cared for by my brother and I. Good start to a trad rack. I can throw in a couple 'biners for racking to sweeten the deal. I have an identical set that I'm keeping. They're good cams, the best you can find for the price.

Asking $185 for the set.

Scott
